Early years

Martin Perreault was born in Montreal on 25 March 1972 and spent his early childhood in Sept-Îles, in eastern Quebec. In 1982 he moved to Ottawa with his mother and younger brother.

He spent five years in the fine arts programme of De La Salle High School in Ottawa, studying photography, sculpture, painting, engraving and acting, and stayed in Ottawa to finish high school when his family moved back to Montreal.

Film school and the stage

At 18 he applied to Film Studies at Concordia University in Montreal. His portfolio, full of hand drawings, led the department to steer him to Film Animation instead.

During and after his studies he worked for eight years as an actor at a Montreal theatre-restaurant.

With Bianca Beauchamp

It was at the theatre-restaurant, in the mid-’90s, that he met Bianca Beauchamp, who became his muse. From 1997 the two built an international name in the latex fashion scene, through her website and the magazines.

Martin’s photographs have been published in well over 100 magazine issues and on more than 60 magazine and book covers (see Publications). He directed and edited the docu-dramas Bianca All Access (2007) and All Access 2 (2008). Their books include a 2,000-copy collector’s edition (2007), thematic calendars from 2010 and the Bianca Sessions photo book series.

He photographed and filmed L’Oréal Montreal Unplugged in 2019 and photographed the L’Oréal–UNESCO For Women in Science awards evening in 2018 (events). His films include Pride Montreal 2017 and 2018 for Fierté Montréal, the Fierté Montréal bid film for WorldPride 2023, a 2019 shoot for Rayko and an aerial drone film of Vietnam.
